The Anglia Asbestos Disease Patient Support Group for sufferers of mesothelioma and asbestos disease is held monthly at Pinney Talfourd’s Brentwood office in Essex.
All support meetings are free of charge, and a buffet lunch is provided for all guests.
Anglia Asbestos Disease Support Group is an initiative by a group of ex-service personnel, led by Brian Chamen-Wallis, an Ambassador for Mesothelioma UK Charitable Trust, who identified a need for Patient Support Groups (PSGs) for mesothelioma and asbestos-related diseases in the Essex region.
These PSGs are designed to provide a focus and forum for victims of asbestos-related diseases, including mesothelioma. The group is open to patients, carers, family members and clinical professionals that specialise in industrial diseases. Subjects discussed range from clinical matters to trials programmes and their effects, and include information about compensation claims, benefits advice, and government legislation affecting sufferers. Diet and exercise are also discussed, alongside the arranging of social activities to enable members to meet with members of other groups in the Essex area.
Mesothelioma UK is a national resource centre dedicated to providing free specialist information, support and improved care and treatment for the disease. The ambassador for the charity, Brian Chamen-Wallis, runs an independent network of support groups in the South East, collectively called Anglia Asbestos Disease Support Group.
Stephen Green is a Partner at Pinney Talfourd specialising in personal injury. He is also a member of the Law Society Personal Injury Panel and a member and Fellow of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). He has worked closely with Mesothelioma UK to provide legal advice to many sufferers and their families.
