Solicitors in Essex & London
We have specialist collaborative lawyers within our Tier 1 Legal 500 UK team. If you wish to resolve financial issues arising from separation and your objective is to do so with an amicable, fair and balanced approach, then this may be an option for you. Each person appoints their own lawyer, but instead of conducting negotiations between you and your partner by letter or phone, you meet together to work things out face-to-face. Our family law team has two specialist collaborative lawyers who have a wealth of experience in collaborative family law and are here to assist in making each decision relating to your separation an amicable one.
Your lawyer will be by your side throughout the entire process, offering you expert legal advice at each step. The aim of collaborative law is to resolve family disputes without going to court.
Collaborative law is aimed at achieving an outcome which is acceptable to both of you. If it is not possible to reach such an agreement and you need the assistance of the court to reach an outcome, then the lawyers withdraw and do not take any further part in the proceedings. This is so that there is no concern that the lawyer may be seen to have a vested interest in the talks breaking down.
One of the benefits of the collaborative process is that it is not driven by a timetable imposed by the court. So, to a large extent, the process can be built around your family's individual timetable and priorities.
If you wish to avoid Court by engaging in a collaborative approach, our specialist Tier 1 Legal 500 family law team offer a free 30-minute initial consultation*. We will explain the process and advise you upon the best way forward.
Due to the recent Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak we are currently offering these 30-minute free appointments by telephone and some video calling services. Our offices are also open with comprehensive safety measures in place.
*Free consultations with our family solicitors are only available at our main Essex offices in Brentwood, Hornchurch and Upminster and are not available in cases where proceedings have been issued. Fixed fee appointments are available at Canary Wharf (London) and Leigh-on-Sea (Essex).
