Jade Mercer studied her law degree at the University of Brighton, graduating in 2018 with a first class honours degree.  Initially after completing her undergraduate degree, Jade worked as document review paralegal on an independent inquiry into historic child sexual abuse, before joining a regional Legal 500 law firm as a paralegal in their family department.

Jade completed her master’s in Law, Business and Management at the University of Law in 2021, graduating with a distinction, whilst undertaking her training contract at the same firm.

Jade subsequently joined Pinney Talfourd’s family department in April 2022, to complete the remaining few months of her training contract, before qualifying in June 2022. In April 2026, Jade was promoted to Associate.

Jade runs her own caseload whilst assisting a partner in the team on complex and high net worth cases.

Jade deals with a wide range of Court applications including applications for divorce, financial remedy, child arrangements orders (including specific issue and prohibited steps orders) under section 8 of the Children Act and injunctions under Family Law Act.

Jade advises client’s on financial matters, assists client’s in reaching agreements and advises client’s in contested proceedings.

Jade also has a keen interest in cases involving unmarried couples.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

On a personal note, in her spare time Jade likes to travel and enjoys attending dance fitness classes.

Noteable achievements

  • Advising and acting for a client in divorce and financial remedy proceedings where there had been a short, childless marriage and one party had brought a property to the marriage.
  • Advising on complex case involving one party who had fallen into the remarriage trap.
  • Assisting with a complex and high net worth case involving an intervenor.
  • An urgent application for a Specific Issue Order in respect of a holiday and complying with a number of time constraint directions imposed by the Court.
  • Advising on a contested Deed of Trust.
  • Assisting with representing a defendant in TOLATA proceedings.
