  • Advising and preparing a Deed of Variation and Deed of Appropriation to an estate to eliminate a Capital Gains Tax liability of £10,000.

  • Acting on a high net worth intestacy. This included negotiating a lump sum pension payment directly to the estate beneficiaries rather than the estate thereby securing a saving of £36,000 in Inheritance Tax.

  • Acting on an estate where the Will was damaged and there were question marks over its validity. Successfully obtained a Grant of Probate and administered the estate.

  • Drafting a post-death Deed of Variation to create a Life Interest Trust for the surviving spouse as part of an overall estate planning exercise to preserve the family’s wealth and reduce the risk of the estate becoming unfairly depleted through the overpayment of care fees.
