New Year New You!
As the New Year dawns everyone has made New Year Resolutions - some of which are kept, many of which are broken.
It is a time for many to reassess their own situation and decide if changes need to be made. These are our top tips to help you resolve family issues;
MAKE A WILL - Almost everyone needs a will. It is imperative that you have a will so that you know what will happen to your assets on death. Even if you have a Will you should review it with your solicitor every 5 years to ensure it accurately reflects your current wishes.
MAKE AN LPA - An LPA will ensure that if you become incapable of managing your own affairs the person whom you want to manage them can.
APPOINT A GUARDIAN - Do you know what would happen to your children if you were to die? Appointing a Guardian under your will can ensure that those you choose have legal responsibility for your children upon your death. In our view, this is one of the most important jobs a parent can attend to.
DEAL WITH RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS - Christmas and New Year can often be particularly stressful times for families who are not getting along. Even though you may be unsure whether you want to separate or divorce, now or in the future, it is often critical to take advice early so that you can make the correct decisions for your family.
FORTHCOMING MARRIAGE - If you are planning on getting married this summer now is the time to consider whether a Prenuptial Agreement may assist you. These should be made months in advance of the wedding if possible so now is the time to act. Prenuptial Agreements are not binding but in certain circumstances they can be very persuasive.
