Family Proceedings Rule 2010 Effective from April 2011

On 6th April 2011 the Family Proceedings Rule 2010 finally came into force, meaning significant changes for family practitioners.

Perhaps from a client's point of view, the most significant change is that mediation is now required, save for any limited set of circumstances, prior to issuing financial proceedings following a divorce.

All lawyers at Pinney Talfourd LLP have received significant training in this area to ensure that they are completely up to date with the amendments and the implications for their clients.

Pinney Talfourd LLP also recently hosted a seminar in conjunction with Tanfield Chambers to train other local solicitors in the new Upminster office.

Catherine Polli, Head of the Family, says "It is really important that we stay in touch with all changes which occur and that we can react quickly to them. Whilst the changes to the Family Proceedings Rules are significant we have put in place systems to ensure that all of our documents are completely up to date and that our lawyers are fully trained in the changes so that the impact on our client's is limited. We are confident that we can manage the transition through the new Family Proceedings Rules smoothly and that they will benefit our client's in due course."
